🏝️ TripAdvisor users select the world's best destinations and beaches for 2026

Each year, the travel platform Tripadvisor publishes the winners of its Travelers' Choice Awards, based on reviews submitted by travelers over the past twelve months.

These awards cover five major categories: Destinations, Beaches, Hotels, Things to Do, and Restaurants.

So far, TripAdvisor has published the 2026 winners in two of those categories: Destinations and Beaches.

In the case of destinations, the three highest-rated were, in order: Bali (Indonesia), London (United Kingdom), and Dubai (United Arab Emirates).

Destinations can be filtered by geographic area and type, making it easy to discover a wide variety of award-winning destinations based on each traveler's interests.

As for the best beaches, first place in 2026 goes to Isla Pasion in Cozumel (Mexico), while the next two spots go to two beaches on the Greek island of Crete: Elafonissi and Balos Lagoon.

Just like the destinations, the best beaches can be filtered by different geographic regions around the world.

Over the coming weeks, the winners in the remaining three categories — Hotels, Things to Do, and Restaurants — will be announced.

💜 March 8: United Nations invites everyone to celebrate International Women's Day

"Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls." This is the slogan chosen by the United Nations to mark International Women's Day in 2026, celebrated this coming Sunday, March 8.

The United Nations invites everyone to join "women and girls around the world to demand equal rights and equal justice to enforce, exercise, and enjoy those rights."

According to the UN, "nowadays, no nation has closed the legal gaps between men and women. Right now, women have only 64 per cent of the legal rights that men hold worldwide. In fundamental areas of life, including work, money, safety, family, property, mobility, business, and retirement – the law systematically disadvantages women."

On this new International Women's Day 2026, the UN issues a call to action "to dismantle all barriers to equal justice: discriminatory laws, weak legal protections, and harmful practices and social norms that erode the rights of women and girls."

What is feminism?

The United Nations has published a practical guide titled "What is feminism?", designed as "a simple guide to an often-misunderstood topic: Learn about women’s fight for equality and what it means for feminist movements today."

Additionally, on Monday, March 9, the commemorative events for this edition of International Women's Day can be followed live or on demand via UN Web TV

  • Name: David Owen

  • Role: Senior Lecturer in English Literature, UAB Barcelona

  • Recommended resource: Napkin AI

  • Why?

For anyone needing to explain complex ideas in a visually accessible way, Napkin AI is an excellent resource. It allows me to transform ideas into visual, structured content that’s both impactful and memorable. It’s particularly effective in an educational context—enabling the conversion of intricate concepts into clear diagrams for students in seconds—but it is equally valuable for meetings, seminars or any project requiring a concise presentation of ideas, visually supported.

The tool functions by expanding a simple prompt into structured text and then instantly generating flows, charts, and concept maps (although you can also upload text and images to work with further in the app). It has a high degree of user control over the final output and quite a generous free version. It’s useful as an efficient bridge between a raw draft and a professional visual without the need for specialist design skills.
