πŸ‘©β€πŸ’» Similarweb publishes ranking of fastest-growing websites and apps this past year

Similarweb has just released its Digital 100 ranking, offering insights into the websites and apps that have experienced the most growth over the past year across different markets, both globally and by sector.

The global ranking of websites with the highest growth in the United States this past year is led by ChatGPT (61.4 million monthly unique users and 57.5% growth), Substack (26.6 million users, +44.5%), and AOL (25.7 million, +36.3%).

ChatGPT is currently the generative AI tool with the largest user base. Substack's second-place position demonstrates the enormous reach of the newsletter phenomenon. And AOL represents the comeback of a historic internet brand that, a few months ago, was acquired by Italian tech firm Bending Spoons, owner of products used by millions such as Evernote, Remini, Meetup, WeTransfer, and StreamYard, among others.

Looking at apps, the three with the highest growth in the U.S. have been ChatGPT (46.7 million, +127.9%), Threads (51.8 million, +81.1%), and Indeed Job Search (20.4 million, +39.8%).

The report, which can be downloaded for free upon registration, provides data on the following sectors and markets, both for websites and apps:

  • Sectors: Fashion & Apparel, Beauty & Health, Consumer Tech, Food & Hospitality, Home & Lifestyle, Financial Services, Media & Entertainment, Travel & Tourism, Gaming, Big Winners, and AI Spotlight.

  • Markets: U.S., UK, Germany, France, Australia, India, South Korea, Japan, and Brazil.Β

AI Ranking

The ranking of AI tools by market penetration in the U.S., with data from November 2025, is clearly led by ChatGPT (77.3%), followed by Google's Gemini (24.2%), Grok (6.7%), Claude (5.3%), and Perplexity (5.3%).

πŸ€– Claude Code and Other Free Courses at Anthropic Academy

Generative AI companies are offering free training to users so they can discover their possibilities and get used to using them.

This is the case, for example, with Anthropic Academy, the online training center created by Anthropic, the company behind the Claude tool.

One of the courses offered at Anthropic Academy is "Claude Code in Action," free training dedicated to explaining a tool, Claude Code, that has been widely discussed and written about recently. Claude Code is democratizing software creation by allowing users without programming expertise to automate tasks and create digital tools simply by describing what they want to do in natural language.

Another course available for free is Claude 101, which teaches how to use Claude for all kinds of daily tasks.

In the previous edition of "On the Net Today" we asked you which one was the Poppins font among six options. The correct answer was number 3.

  • Recommended resource: The video episode β€œWhat’s Actually Breaking America – with David Brooks” from "The Prof G Pod" podcast by NYU Professor, best-selling author, business leader and serial entrepreneur Scott Galloway.

  • Why?

I love listening to and reading Scott Galloway, an author I've met and whose book, Post Corona, I've published. He's one of the sharpest minds in America, and his conversation with David Brooks in this video is among the best things I've heard in the past year.

They discuss the moral, social, and emotional crisis gripping America. They analyze how, despite decades of economic growth, society today is more unhappy, polarized, and distrustfulβ€”especially among young people and, particularly, men.

Both agree that the core problem isn't just economic, but cultural and spiritual: the loss of purpose, meaningful connections, and structures that foster commitment, service, and belonging.
