Project Drawdown proposes nearly a hundred climate solutions

Project Drawdown is a nonprofit organization based in the United States that has set out to "help the world stop climate change as quickly, safely, and equitably as possible."

This project is driven by environmentalist and author Paul Hawken, author of, among other works, the book "Drawdown."

The prestigious network of scientists and researchers at Project Drawdown has identified a total of 93 technologies and practices that, together, "can drastically reduce greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere." These are available in the project's solutions library.

Here are some examples of these solutions:

Project Drawdown's work is grounded in science. It conducts research to identify the best possible climate solutions and design effective strategies, and communicates them through scientific publications, media outlets, and marketing campaigns.

Additionally, it informs all types of stakeholders who may be interested so they can drive effective climate action worldwide. Project Drawdown uses the art of storytelling to help change the narrative around climate change, "shifting from problem to solution and from 'catastrophism' to 'opportunity and possibility,'" giving voice to new climate heroes who are changing the world.

Widespread impact of the environmental series "Hope! Estamos a tiempo"

Our second resource today is inspired by the previous project. It's the environmental series "Hope! Estamos a tiempo," available for free (with prior registration) on the RTVE Play platform.

This is a magnificent six-episode series created by Spanish scientific and environmental communicator Javier Peña.

"Today, hope. We still have time. Javier Peña guides us on a transformative journey to discover the other side of climate change. Together with the world's leading environmental experts and filmed in 17 countries, it shows real solutions to halt the global ecological crisis," explains the series' presentation.

This is the series trailer:

"Hope. Estamos a tiempo" presents "a set of measurable and scalable strategies to reduce carbon emissions and regenerate the planet. These solutions, already implemented and with tangible impact, are at the core of Javier's journey."

RTVE's Lab has created an interactive map of all the documentary's initiatives.

The series is generating enormous interest in different parts of the world, where video forums are being organized to watch it and discuss the topics it addresses.

The winners of the 2025 Premios Princesa de Asturias

American geneticist Mary-Claire King has just been awarded the 2025 Premio Princesa de Asturias de Investigación Científica y Técnica, as announced yesterday by the jury.

This is the seventh of the eight Premios Princesa de Asturias granted this year, in which the awards reach their 45th edition.

During the months of May and June, these other awards were announced:

Next week the Premio Princesa de Asturias de Cooperación Internacional will be decided, the only one remaining to be granted this year.

The Premios Princesa de Asturias ceremony will be held, as is traditional, in the month of October. Each award comes with a Joan Miró sculpture—the representative symbol of the honor—, an accrediting diploma, an insignia, and a monetary amount of fifty thousand euros.

The awards website offers information about all this year's winners and those from previous editions, as well as interesting statistical data about the awards.
