This Tuesday, November 5th, the United States presidential election will be held to decide whether Democrat Kamala Harris becomes the first woman president of the United States or if Republican Donald Trump is chosen as president of the country for a second time.
All polls agree that both candidates are virtually tied, making the final outcome very uncertain. Analysts also unanimously point out that victory will be decided in seven states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
This interactive from The New York Times explains in a very visual way what the result might be based on the voting in these seven states:
In addition to the presidency, majorities in both the United States Congress and Senate are also at stake.
In "On the Net Today” we have compiled a list of media outlets that will provide continuously updated coverage of everything that happens during election day and night:
The 200 Best Inventions of 2024, According to TIME
For more than two decades, TIME magazine has published an annual special issue dedicated to the best inventions of the year, and has just released the 2024 edition.
To make the selection, the magazine seeks input from TIME editors and correspondents while also managing an online process for receiving proposals. Special attention is paid to areas of particular development such as healthcare, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy. According to the magazine, factors taken into consideration when choosing the inventions include their originality, effectiveness, ambition, and impact.
This year's list includes the world's largest computer chip, a humanoid robot, a transparent television, and a bioluminescent plant, among the 200 inventions -and 50 additional special mentions-, organized by categories, that "are changing how we live, work, play, and think about what's possible."
