Monocle: an international multi-platform publishing model

The international magazine Monocle, founded in 2007 by Tyler Brûlé, has become one of the most varied and interesting multi-platform media projects in recent years thanks to its combination of print and digital publications, radio and podcasts, events, books, communities and stores, among other activities.

It began as an original print magazine, which is still published monthly, offering original perspectives on a wide variety of topics, from diplomacy to design, including ideas, travel, fashion, business or culture, among other matters.

This video is an introduction to the February 2025 issue of Monocle, which presents 25 ideas from around the world.

Monocle has headquarters in Zurich (Switzerland) and London (United Kingdom), as well as offices and correspondents spread across various cities around the world, including Paris and Tokyo.

Fiverr Go: AI that works in your style

Fiverr, the marketplace for freelance services including writing, programming, and graphic design, launched Fiverr Go on February 18th, a new tool that allows freelancers to create, train, and manage customized AI models with a dual benefit.

On one hand, the AI Creation Model allows freelancers to train AI with their own work. Clients can request the AI model to generate images, illustrations, texts, or audio that will be automatically created with the freelancer's unique style. They will need to pay to download content without a watermark, and if permitted by the freelancers, these results can be used to further improve their AI.

In exchange, freelance professionals expand their client portfolio and can substantially increase their business. “This platform gives creators the power to scale their work without compromising their creative integrity or financial interests" says Kaufman, Fiverr's CEO.

It's important to highlight that Fiverr cannot use these AI models without the freelancer's permission.

On the other hand, the Personal Chat Assistant automatically answers frequently asked questions about services and prices, while maintaining the freelancer's tone and communication style. It also collects information before passing more complex queries, which streamlines processes and can convert more potential clients into actual clients. Additionally, freelancers can schedule their availability and decide when to intervene in the conversation.

These services are available for freelancers at Level 2 or higher on Fiverr, which are those rated above 4.6/5 by clients. The AI Creation Model costs $25/month and includes up to three active models and two monthly retrainings. The Personal Assistant is available for $29/month for freelancers with Seller Plus Premium, which includes advanced analytics or marketing tools such as seller coupons, among other features.

Although Fiverr Go facilitates and accelerates freelance work, it does not guarantee exclusivity in the results, so there is a possibility that different clients may obtain similar content. Even so, it can be a powerful tool for those looking to leverage AI without losing their creative identity.

Tips for reading more books offered by The Booker Prizes

How can we create good habits to read more books?

On The Booker Prizes website, various tips and strategies are offered that can help us manage to read more books throughout the year.

These are, summarized, the suggestions offered:

  • Start small

"Start with five or ten minutes a day and go from there. A short novel, a collection of short stories, or even a poetic work can be the perfect way to build the stamina needed for something a bit more ambitious. The key is that the reading goal should be manageable, but also consistent."

  • Find your perfect match

"Reading for pleasure is about finding the perfect book, genre, or author for you. The key is to find what one is passionate about as a reader. When you find the right book, reading will become a pleasure, not an obligation."

  • Turn reading into a ritual

"We all like rituals, don't we? Whether it's morning coffee or nighttime skincare, these moments give life a comforting rhythm. Reading can be the same. You might like to wake up early and flip through pages with the calm of the morning. Or perhaps you're more of a night owl, relaxing with a cup of tea and a good book before bed."

  • Find a reading buddy or join a book club

"Reading doesn't have to be a solitary task. Finding a reading partner with whom to share the experience can help you stay motivated: you can exchange recommendations, discuss the latest releases, or simply encourage each other. If you prefer to be motivated by a larger group, joining a reading group or book club is the perfect way to meet like-minded book lovers."

  • Mix it up with different formats

"If you've never tried changing formats, give it a try. Listening to a novel or reading on a tablet in bed can open up new possibilities for you. After all, variety is the spice of life."

  • Create a distraction-free zone

"To really focus on that great story, create a distraction-free zone by silencing notifications or even putting your phone in another room. Why not set aside time for reading and consider it sacred? Whether in a quiet corner of your home or at your favorite café, you'll be surprised at how many pages you can get through when interruptions are kept at bay."

  • Track progress, celebrate wins

"Keeping track of your reading is a great way to ensure it continues. A simple reading journal can serve you well: note what you've read and when, and detail what you liked or what made you think. Another useful tool is setting goals. Perhaps you want to read one book a month, try a new genre, or finally tackle that classic you've been eyeing sideways from your to-be-read pile for too long. Whatever your goal, make it realistic and rewarding."

  • Try something new

"Sometimes, we all get stuck in a rut, and reading is no exception. Change things up by choosing a genre you've never explored or trying an author outside your specialty. Venture into a translated book or immerse yourself in an experimental narrative that breaks the mold."
