Copenhagen overtakes Vienna as the world's most livable city
Denmark's capital, Copenhagen, tops this year's ranking of the world's most livable cities (Global Liveability Index 2025) just published by EIU (The Economist Intelligence Unit), displacing Austria's capital, Vienna, from the first place it had held for the past three years.
The EIU index evaluates 173 cities worldwide through 30 indicators, classified into stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure, which determine which cities are most comfortable to live in. This year's average score remains unchanged from last year, at 76.1 out of 100. Copenhagen achieved perfect scores of 100 in stability, education, and infrastructure, allowing it to rise from second to first place.
This year's results "reflect a continued decline in global stability, driven by intensifying geopolitical conflicts and civil unrest."
EIU offers a free summary of the report that can be downloaded here (registration required).

Deloitte Global’s 2025 Gen Z and Millennial Survey: what drives young talent across 44 countries
Deloitte has published the results of its 2025 survey of Generation Z and Millennials, two generations that will represent 74% of the workforce by 2030. To understand what concerns them and what they expect from the working world, the study compiled responses from 23,482 young people across 44 countries.
Rather than climbing to management positions, these generations today prioritize continuous learning and a real work-life balance. For many, professional development goes hand in hand with personal well-being. And that combination is what defines their decisions and expectations.
Among the study's key findings:
Learning matters, but many feel their bosses don't know how to help them grow.
Concerned about return on investment, some young people are questioning the value of higher education.
Money, purpose, and well-being form the triad that determines workplace happiness.
Sustainability remains a key factor in how they live, work, and consume.
The report includes testimonials from both the survey's open-ended responses and separate in-depth interviews conducted with some participants. It's now available for free in English and PDF format.
