Innovative TF1 documentary with 3D footage on the Normandy Landing

The French television channel TF1 recently aired an eight-minute documentary that offers a spectacular 3D reconstruction of the Normandy landing.

The video has generated enormous interest not only in France but also in many other countries. During its broadcast on TF1's 8 PM news, it was watched live by over 5 million viewers. Subsequently, more than 3 million additional people viewed it via the channel's website and social media.

The creator of this work, Yani Khezzar, who is the Head of News Innovation at TF1, has posted the video with English subtitles on LinkedIn due to requests from people in the US and the UK.

The project took over three months of work and was filmed in volumetric video at Studio extensible, with a technology created by 4Dviews.  The goal of Khezzar and the TF1 innovation team with works like this is to “to put technology at the service of information and to create innovative and educational stories”.

Congratulations to Christophe Aragona our CGI artist and Elise Chambeyron for her work on the sound design.
