Good morning!

This is our final edition before we take a few weeks off for vacation. Since launching this newsletter, we've shared 123 resources across 41 editions, all of which are always available on our website.

"On the Net Today" will be back in your inboxes in September, refreshed and ready to bring you another year of the best online recommendations.

Here are three recommendations we've prepared for today:

  • Global Project Oasis: A directory with over 3,200 independent digital media outlets in America and Europe

  • The best travel destinations in 2024 according to Time, NYT, and National Geographic

  • Can You Spend 10 Minutes With One Painting? The NYT challenges your focus skills

Global Project Oasis: A directory with over 3,200 independent digital media outlets in America and Europe

SembraMedia, with support from Google News Initiative (GNI), has launched Global Project Oasis, an extensive report and online directory including over 3,200 independent digital media outlets from Latin America, Europe, the United States, and Canada.

SembraMedia is an international nonprofit organization that supports digital media entrepreneurs. Project Oasis is a research initiative focused on the sustainability, innovation, and impact of independent digital media across various regions.

The profiles in the Global Project Oasis directory come from SembraMedia’s Spanish directory, Project Oasis Europe (also developed by SembraMedia), and contributions from partners such as LION Publishers in the U.S. and Canada, and AJOR in Brazil. The project aims to expand its research to Australia, New Zealand, India, and Africa.

The Global Project Oasis directory allows users to discover and learn about more than 3,200 digital media outlets, each with a detailed profile. The directory offers search and filter options by various criteria, including name, organization type, country, revenue sources, covered topics, and types of coverage.

The report highlights trends and insights on sustainability, coverage types, team formation, innovation, and press freedom worldwide. The media outlets analyzed range from small volunteer-led initiatives to large multiplatform enterprises with significant annual revenues exceeding $23 million.
