The generative artificial intelligence company ProRata offers an AI search engine, Gist.ai, that delivers results based on content licensed by media outlets worldwide.
In fact, according to ProRata's announcement a few days ago, more than 500 publishers from various countries have now signed agreements with the company to license their content and generate revenue based on the results provided.
With this number of publishers as partners, Gist.ai has become one of the largest generative AI tools based on content with formal licenses for its use.
ProRata's growing list of media partners includes publications and media companies such as The Atlantic, Fast Company, Inc., Fortune, TIME, Boston Globe Media, New York Magazine, The Verge, Vox, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Guardian, Daily Mail, Sky News, Newsday, Tom's Guide, and Who What Wear, among many others.
Among the publishers that have recently joined ProRata are the Spanish news agency EFE and Prisa Media, among others.
With all these companies, ProRata shares revenue in a model that, according to the company, "sets a new standard for ethical and trustworthy AI search."
ProRata CEO Bill Gross has stated that “publishers everywhere are rallying behind ProRata because we prove that generative AI can both honor creators and deliver an outstanding user experience”.
As Gross has explained, "Gist.ai answers every query using 100 percent licensed content so consumers get authoritative, accurate answers” while enabling publishers to benefit from those searches.
ProRata's system analyzes each source's contribution to the responses and calculates proportional compensation for each publisher.

The weekly newspaper 'The New European' becomes 'The New World’

The British weekly newspaper The New European, which was born nine years ago as a temporary, pro-European publication in response to Brexit, has announced that it is changing its name to The New World and expanding its content and focus after establishing itself over these years as an independent publication. The newspaper, which was initially supposed to last only four weeks, has now published 427 issues.
Its founder and CEO, journalist Matt Kelly, has explained that The New World has tripled its revenue over the past three years and quadrupled its subscribers and newsstand sales. It currently has 35,000 paying customers, most of them subscribers (in addition to subscribers, the newspaper sells about 4,500 copies each week at newsstands, according to the Financial Times).
According to Kelly, the name change reflects a global reality: the forces and threats that drove Brexit (nationalism, disinformation, loss of trust in institutions, and democratic backsliding) are now global phenomena that require a broader perspective.
The New World seeks to expand its mission, addressing not only European issues but also global challenges such as technology, China's rise, climate change, new demographics, and global politics.
