Fortune's ranking of the world's 500 largest companies
Every year, Fortune magazine publishes a ranking of the world's 500 largest companies by revenue. This special edition, titled Fortune 500, has become an essential reference for the business world globally.
This year's 2024 list is topped by the supermarket chain Walmart. The second company is the e-commerce giant Amazon, while the third place is occupied by the Chinese company State Grid. Completing the top ten positions are Saudi Aramco, Sinopec Group, China National Petroleum, Apple, UnitedHealth Group, Berkshire Hathaway, and CVS Health.
The special edition allows users to discover the essential economic data of the companies, such as revenue volume and its percentage variation, profits, asset value, number of employees, change in ranking position, and the number of years they have appeared on Fortune's list. The data listing is interactive and allows reordering of information by each concept. Additionally, companies can be filtered in various ways, such as by sector and industry to which they belong or the country where they are located, among others.
Furthermore, two interactive graphics are offered: a world map with visual data of the 500 companies and a historical evolution of the companies' ranking positions.
Access to the basic information mentioned above is free. Full access to all information for each company is available to paid subscribers.

Bookshop.org: connecting readers with independent booksellers all over the world
Bookshop.org is an alternative to Amazon for online book purchases, designed to benefit physical bookstores participating in the project (currently in the United States and the United Kingdom).
Every purchase on the site financially supports independent bookstores. The user buys the book online through Bookshop.org and decides which bookstore they want to allocate the profits from that sale to. The bookstore receives a percentage of the book's sale price.
The project was launched in early 2020 in the U.S. by a group of private investors who are enthusiasts of books and physical bookstores. In this country, there are already more than 2,000 participating bookstores. Bookshop.org is also available in the United Kingdom, and for a while, it was also operating in Spain, but it closed its Spanish operations in 2023.
According to the website, the project has raised more than $33 million for local bookstores.
