Flightradar24: live tracking of flights worldwide
Flightradar24 is an online flight tracking service that provides real-time information on thousands of flights globally. It is available through the web and apps for iOS and Android.
Each day, Flightradar24 tracks over 200,000 flights using more than 40,000 ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast) receivers worldwide. Over four million users connect daily to track flights live. Its apps have been downloaded more than 75 million times.
Last Friday, Flightradar24 gained even more attention due to a global computer failure affecting Windows systems, causing disruptions across multiple industries, including aviation. Thousands of flights were canceled, and tens of thousands were delayed, as Flightradar24 explained:
This project began in 2006 as a hobby for "two Swedish aviation geeks," as explained on their website, who decided to build an ADS-B receiver network in northern and central Europe. In 2009, they opened the network for anyone with a receiver to upload data, covering many other parts of the world.
The basic flight tracking service is free. Additionally, Flightradar24 offers various paid services.

The New Yorker's weekly Cartoon Caption Contest
One of the most distinctive features of the prestigious magazine The New Yorker is its famous humorous cartoons.
Additionally, this magazine has long offered its readers various interactive options to play or participate in contests.
One of the most well-known and successful is their "Cartoon Caption Contest", a competition specifically tied to their humor cartoons.
Each week, The New Yorker presents a cartoon without text, inviting readers to submit their captions, which must not exceed 250 characters. The magazine selects three finalists, and readers vote for their favorite. The winning caption is featured both on the website and in the print edition of The New Yorker.
