The Daily: The most listened-to news podcast in the world · The Conversation: Academic rigour, journalistic flair

Good morning!

This is 'On the Net Today' – your go-to newsletter for maximizing your internet experience! Three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) we curate a selection of three valuable resources to enhance your browsing time.

Here are three recommendations we've prepared for today:

  • Experience the sunrise and sunset at Stonehenge Live

  • The Daily: The most listened-to news podcast in the world

  • The Conversation: Academic rigour, journalistic flair

Experience the sunrise and sunset at Stonehenge Live

The Stonehenge Skyscape website allows anyone, from anywhere in the world, to experience the sunrise and sunset—or view the daytime or nighttime sky—from the center of Stonehenge, the iconic British megalithic monument.

What you see on the website is a photographic representation—created from multiple sources—of the view someone would have from the exact center of the monument. The daytime view is real, but with a slight time delay of up to five minutes. The weather conditions displayed are those currently happening. Users can access the view from any of the past 24 hours and move through the image to change perspectives.

The nighttime view, on the other hand, is computer-generated and shows the exact real-time positions of visible stars and planets, unaffected by current weather conditions.

Stonehenge Skyscape also offers educational information about the movements of the Sun, Moon, and planets and allows users to see the solar alignment at Stonehenge. The website's clock provides information about the sunrise and sunset times for that day.

This website is an English Heritage project, an organization that preserves over 400 buildings, monuments, and historical sites in England and provides educational content about them.

The Conversation: Academic rigour, journalistic flair

The Conversation is a non-profit, open-access, and ad-free editorial platform that provides "educational articles and analyses written by the academic and research community" to media outlets and any reader.

This project began in 2011 in Melbourne, Australia. Since then, international editions have been launched in various countries and languages, including the UK, the US, South Africa, France, Canada, Indonesia, New Zealand, Spain, and Brazil.

All articles are written by university academics and researchers who are experts in their fields. A team of editors, composed of specialized journalists, helps these academic experts "translate their knowledge to readers in clear, concise, and accessible language."

Universities, research centers, and other institutions participate as collaborative entities in this educational project.
