Hi!
Happy Monday. We’re getting started with our fifth week at 'On the Net Today' – your go-to newsletter for maximizing your internet experience! Three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) we curate a selection of three valuable resources to enhance your browsing time.
Here are three recommendations we've prepared for today:

Books and TV series recommended by Bill Gates for this summer

European Parliament Elections 2024
From June 6 to 9, 2024, the Elections for the European Parliament will be held in the 27 countries that are part of the European Union (EU).
The European Parliament offers a website with essential information about these elections, which take place every five years. This time, a total of 720 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) will be elected - currently, there are 705 - who will represent 450 million Europeans. Each country has a minimum of 6 MEPs and a maximum of 96.
The website explains how European elections work, why it is important to vote, and addresses the main questions citizens may have. Additionally, there is a video explaining that “democracy is a treasure passed down from generation to generation”.
Users can also find a link to check the results of this year’s elections or any previous elections.
Additionally, information about political parties and the different groups in the European Parliament is available.

The Blog of Bill Gates
Every year around this time, Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates publishes the books and TV series he recommends for summer on his blog, “Gates Notes”.
For example, among his latest suggestions are the books “How to Know a Person” by David Brooks and “Infectious Generosity” by Chris Anderson, among others. In the following video and link, you will find the complete short list of recommendations:

100,000 Stars: 3D interactive of our stellar neighborhood
Screenshot of the “100,000 Stars” interactive
“100,000 Stars” is an interactive visualization of our stellar neighborhood created for the Google Chrome browser.
Specifically, it shows the location of 119,617 nearby stars, 87 of which are individually identified. It also displays our solar system.
Users can watch an explanatory video about the interactive and can navigate or scroll with their mouse, zooming in or out and changing the perspective. By clicking on the names of the identified stars, users can read more about them.
“100,000 Stars” was programmed by space enthusiasts working at Google. The project is part of Google's Chrome Experiments. The authors warn that the scientific accuracy of the data cannot be guaranteed, so the visualization should not be used for interstellar navigation.
