Techmeme, the tech news aggregator with a human touch

Techmeme is a technology news aggregator that allows you to follow the most interesting happenings in the tech world at any time, thanks to a combination of algorithmic and human selection and editing of topics.

The project was founded in 2005 by Gabe Rivera as an automated technology news curation service. Since 2008, Techmeme also has human editors who complete the news selection and editing process.

Techmeme's objective is to monitor, on a permanent basis, the most relevant aspects of the technology world, following what is published on the web and social media by relevant actors in the tech sector (media, journalists, analysts, companies...).

The people behind Techmeme believe that an appropriate and coherent combination of algorithmic and human editing allows for the best possible way to follow the most interesting news in the tech world.

Techmeme offers rankings of the most mentioned publications and authors. Every day, it sends out a free newsletter with the news selected in the last 24 hours.

The project is independent and is financed by advertising that is offered only through various special formats, such as sponsored posts.

Wirecutter: The New York Times' product recommender

Wirecutter is a product review and recommendation website owned by The New York Times.

Wirecutter's editorial team analyzes and tests, in a completely independent manner, thousands of products of all types to recommend the purchase of those it considers best in multiple categories. Wirecutter does not accept advertising and purchases the products it analyzes, so manufacturers cannot intervene in any way in the evaluations.

The website earns a commission every time a user makes a purchase through the link offered by Wirecutter, thanks to affiliate agreements with online stores. It also generates revenue by being part of the NYT's digital subscription.

"Our goal is to save you time and eliminate the stress of shopping," say those responsible.

Wirecutter was founded independently in 2011 and was acquired by The New York Times in October 2016.

More details about Wirecutter's way of working are offered here.
