This year, Google Play has introduced various improvements to the store to help users discover apps and to enable them to play, earn rewards, and get help when needed.

Apple's App Store Finalist Apps and Games of 2024

Apple has just presented the list of finalist apps and games for the 2024 App Store Awards.

For twelve different categories, Apple wants to recognize apps and games that stand out for their "exceptional user experience, design, and innovation" and help users achieve goals, be more creative, and connect better with friends and family.

The best apps for iPhone are these three:

  • Kino, for turning everyday moments into cinematic masterpieces.

  • Runna, for offering tailored training plans to runners of all experience levels.

  • Tripsy, for keeping travelers organized and stress-free.

The top three finalists in the iPhone Game of the Year category are:

The Apple list also offers finalist apps and games for iPad, Apple Arcade games, apps and games for Mac, apps for Apple Watch, apps and games for Apple Vision Pro, and apps for Apple TV.

Additionally, Apple has selected these 12 additional finalists in the Cultural Impact category:

  • Arco, for letting players shape their own story.

  • The Bear, for turning bedtime into a calming, interactive experience. 

  • BetterSleep, for helping users sleep — and feel — better. 

  • Brawl Stars, for delivering quick bites of action-packed gameplay. 

  • DailyArt, for inspiring curiosity about artistic masterpieces. 

  • Do You Really Want to Know 2, for addressing misconceptions about HIV through an endearing interactive story.

  • EF Hello, for empowering language learners with AI-enhanced tools.

  • NYT Games, for uniting puzzle lovers across generations with a daily dose of fun.

  • Oko, for making  street-crossing safer and more accessible to all.

  • Partiful, for simplifying social gatherings to foster connection and community.

  • Pinterest, for inspiring new ideas and endless possibilities. 

  • The Wreck, for telling an intimate and impactful story via cinematic gameplay.

The photographic award "The Landscape Photographer of the Year", which distinguishes the best landscape photographers from around the world, now has its winners.

In the eleventh edition of the award, which received 3,643 entries, the jury has chosen Canadian Andrew Mielzynski as photographer of the year, ahead of Ignacio Palacios (Australia) and Gheorghe Popa (Romania).

The award for best photograph of the year goes to Ryohei Irie (Japan). Special prizes have also been granted for the best black and white photography, aerial photography, snow and ice photography, forest photography, and sky photography.

This spectacular gallery showcases the top 202 photos submitted this year. The images are also available in a digital and printed book.
