May 24, 2024 edition
Hi!
Welcome to 'On the Net Today' – your go-to newsletter for maximizing your internet experience! Three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) we curate a selection of three valuable resources to enhance your browsing time.
Here are three recommendations we've prepared for today:
Behance: the platform for designers and creatives
Market Map: visualizing the value of US Stock Exchange companies
Disinformation, the main risk for our world in the next two years
Behance: the platform for designers and creatives
Behance, which presents itself as "the world's largest creative network," is a social platform for designers and creative professionals that currently has over 50 million users worldwide.
It was launched in 2006 by Matias Corea and Scott Belsky and was acquired by Adobe in December 2012.
On Behance, creative professionals from around the world can showcase and share their work and earn money from it. The platform features creative projects from authors who display their creations in various fields: graphic design, illustration, photography, user interface/user experience, or 3D art.
Moreover, companies and professionals interested in hiring creative services or purchasing resources can do so through the platform. Thus, freelancers can be hired for any project (there are over a million professional creators available). Additionally, Behance currently has more than 10,000 design resources—fonts, templates, and vectors—available for purchase and use in projects.
The Behance blog explains stories of creatives and offers abundant practical resources such as tips and tutorials.

Behance also offers a job board, both for full-time jobs and specific projects.
Behance’s free service allows, among other things:
Publishing projects
Offering services as a freelancer
Sending client proposals
Selling resources
Accessing the job board
Selling through Behance (platform fees range from 15% to 30%)
Since last March, Behance has also offered a more advanced paid service, Behance Pro, which increases the visibility of designers' and creatives' work and offers other advantages, such as 0% platform fees when selling work or creating a personalized Adobe Portfolio website.

Market Map is an excellent tool that allows you to visualize and compare the value of companies listed on the US stock exchange (NYSE or Nasdaq) in a very attractive and dynamic way, based on different parameters, such as their market capitalization or financial performance. Each point on the map represents a company, and its size corresponds to its updated market value.

Disinformation, the main risk for our world in the next two years
World Economic Forum’s report
The World Economic Forum, which is set to hold its traditional annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, next week, has just released its "Global Risks Report 2024." The report outlines what it considers the primary risks facing the global population in the coming years.
This year, the report identifies disinformation and fake news as the top short-term risk (2 years), surpassing phenomena such as extreme weather events, society polarization, cybersecurity threats, and armed conflicts.
The world's greatest risks in the short term (2 years)
Looking ahead to the long term (10 years), the main risks mentioned in the report shift slightly. Extreme weather events take the top spot, with the next three risks also related to nature and the environment: critical changes in Earth's systems, loss of biodiversity and ecosystem collapse, and depletion of natural resources. Disinformation occupies the fifth position, while the potential adverse effects of artificial intelligence technologies are mentioned in the sixth place.
