The website OneMillionScreenshots is a project developed by Urlbox that offers a collection of 1,048,576 website homepage screenshots, arranged in a navigable grid, on which users can zoom and discover numerous details about each site.
As its creators explain, "it is a fun and wonderful way to explore the web". The project was born as a celebration of over 100 million screenshots for Urlbox clients in the year 2023.
OneMillionScreenshots began taking screenshots on January 1, 2024. Since then, it has been taking new screenshots at the beginning of each month for more than 1 million sites that appear in the project.
This website was created by Jonathan Markwell (@jot), Lukas Wiesehan (@lukaswiesehan), and Chris Roebuck (@cjroebuck) from Sussex (United Kingdom), Lower Saxony (Germany), and Yorkshire (United Kingdom).
