Hi!

Welcome to 'On the Net Today' – your go-to newsletter for maximizing your internet experience! Three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) we curate a selection of three valuable resources to enhance your browsing time.

Here are three recommendations we've prepared for today:

  • Adolfo Arranz named world’s best designer in the SND’s creative competition

  • Michelle Obama's award-winning podcast: The Light Podcast

  • World Bee Day (20 May)

Adolfo Arranz named world’s best designer in the SND’s creative competition

Spanish illustrator and infographic artist Adolfo Arranz, based in Hong Kong and currently working as Senior Graphics Editor for the Reuters agency, has been chosen as the best designer in the world at the annual Society for News Design (SND) awards.

The 17 members of the SND jury awarded Arranz for his portfolio of recent work at Reuters. Among other things, they praised his "detailed illustrations" dedicated to explaining a wide variety of news topics.

Arranz's portfolio submitted to the SND awards included the following works published by Reuters. All of them deserve a detailed visit:

Michelle Obama's award-winning podcast: The Light Podcast

Former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama hosts "The Light Podcast", where she “dives deep into conversations with family, friends, and colleagues to share tools for living in today’s world with her trademark humor, candor, and compassion”, as described in the podcast's introduction.

This nine-episode podcast recently won five Webby Awards. Specifically, it won the Jury Award in two podcast competition categories, "Advice & How-To" and "Best Series," and the People's Voice (audience award) in three categories: "Advice & How-To," "Health, Wellness & Lifestyle," and "Best Series."

Originally released on Audible, the podcast is now also available on other platforms, such as Acast, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.

World Bee Day (20 May)

This Monday, May 20th, we celebrate World Bee Day, declared by the United Nations, “to raise awareness about the importance of pollinators, the threats they face, and their contribution to sustainable development".

As the United Nations argues, "we depend on the survival of bees," since "pollination is a fundamental process for the survival of ecosystems, essential for the production and reproduction of many crops and wild plants." Thus, "pollinators not only directly contribute to food security but are also indispensable for conserving biodiversity".

In "On the Net Today" we wanted to highlight this day and have gathered some interesting links for those who want to learn more about bees.
